The Ascendril

                        [GUILD LEADERS]
                   Headmaster: Ianus
                Divine Patron: Slyphe, the Maelstrom
Professors: Zorn, Shiah, Zynti, Esylana, and Aoi
          Academia Instructor: Zorn

Formally founded as a guild in 292 MA, the Ascendril Academy traces its roots back to a group of Mages who parted with the Magi over a policy disagreement and under less than friendly terms. Rather than dwelling fruitlessly on the past, the Ascendril Academy looks to the future, offering all souls with an interest in the study of Magic a home and place of learning. Their ultimate goal is to better the understanding of the realm and improve the world through their discoveries.

Based in the Merchant City of Ashtan, the Ascendril Academy earns its gold through the Enchantment of rings, sigils, and other items. With a natural affinity for building and making new things, the job of funding these projects falls to the department of commerce to generate the necessary gold or materials, but all members of the guild are welcome to pitch in for the group effort.

Considering the progress of her students to be as important as the progress of the realm, the Ascendril Academy boasts a simple path to obtaining full membership and a steady yet variable set of options for advancing to teacher status and welcome into the Ascendril Cloister where a greater voice and range of privileges awaits.

Beginning students can expect lessons in Elemancy and Crystalism to be a part of their core curriculum. Elemancy teaches the young pupil to channel and control the elemental weaves of Water, Fire, and Spirit. They begin with simple spells such as a veil of fire to protect from harm and making mirror images of themselves and as they learn more will eventually reach the more difficult abilities such as flooding an area with water or the creation of the highly dangerous holocaust globe. Through Crystalism, the student will learn to embed a variety of vibrations in the ground for effects ranging from recovery of mind and body to the bending of time itself!
