He later descended into a state of despair after Shallai died during a mysterious plague, and this despair led him to pursue power at all costs within the government. At the time of his leadership, several members of his council were prominent merchants facing great debt, and he purchased these debts in order to control their votes. When a referendum was held to rename the city in Shallai's honor, the council schemed to hide the results of the referendum, which actually showed that the citizens had chosen to name the city Enorian.
