Learning Messages

Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood stands before you, myriad stars seeming to sparkle in his eyes as he explains, "It is the Oneiromancer's connection to Fate that allows our powers to work." He paces before you, intoning, "You must always be aware of your connection."

Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood continues, allowing actions to do the talking. He draws his hands through the air, weaving flashes of bright orange, and almost immediately, the tintinnabulary sound of bells assaults your mind, and you feel the urge to flee!

Finally ceasing that wretched noise, Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood looks upon you with a wry smile, before reaching out and plucking an invisible string, just in front of your nose. "With enough practice," he claims, "you can unspool the strands of your foes." As he says this, you feel an essential piece of yourself unraveling, causing you to gasp.

Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood sweeps his hand through the air, and before your eyes, an array of barely-visible sparkling silver threads play themselves out across the room. Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood runs one finger along the threads, until he finds one that connects directly to you. "You can track those whose fates are near an end," he says. "Their threads will stand out to you as they near their death."

Relaxing, Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood draws forth a rush of blue-violet strands of energy, swaddling his form with them and causing it to fade into obscurity, leaving him an ethereal, wispy figure. His voice rings out from that figure, explaining, "Calling on the Astral blue, we can step away from reality - it's tough to hurt what is hardly here."

Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood murmurs beneath his breath, intoning a strange song. As he does so, wisps of Astral green flow from his mouth, creating a noxious cloud of poisoned air in the room. As you start to cover your mouth, squinting your eyes against the poison, Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood conjures a breeze to dispel the cloud, blowing the poison away.

Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood snatches something out of the air, one hand launched out and pulled back in a swift motion. With a blink, you clear your eyes and see what he now holds: a strangely weightless, alluring mask. "Dream and memory can be given form," he explains, placing the mask over his face. "They protect an Oneiromancer from the attacks of their foes."

Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood sets his mask to the side, now retrieving an ethereal athame, which shines in his hands like moonlight. Within it, blue astral fire burns, and he explains, "The Nobles of the Astral take memories - and pay their debts with gifts, like these." With a flick of his hand, he sends it flying through the air, embedding it in the ground nearby.

Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood swings his arms out to either side, one taking hold of strands of black Astral energy, the other white. He brings his hands back together, slowly, carefully weaving the black and white together as he explains, "With Astral black and white, a great Oneiromancer can even create a continuance of life, allowing their allies to avoid a grisly fate."

Raest, Hunter of the Heartwood grows somber, letting the last vestiges of black and white fade. Suddenly, with a knowing smile on his lips, he is surrounded by a multicolor array of Astral energy, every color of the rainbow swirling until it settles over his chest, slowly fading. "And the greatest of Oneiromancers will be remembered as they are by the Astral, never to be forgotten." With that, it seems the conversation is over.
