Fishing is a practical skill in Aetolia, inspired by the seafaring traditions of the Gulleyes of Esterport. Unlike other skills, Fishing is not learned through lessons—it is developed entirely through practice. By purchasing a fishing license from Saaik of the Gulleyes for 100 credits (V58543), players can begin their journey into the sport using basic gear like a bamboo fishing pole.
Players start at novice levels, casting lines in ocean shallows and muddy waters. As they successfully catch fish, they naturally improve their proficiency. Advancing to higher ranks such as Skilled, Fabled, and Transcendent requires earning the favor of the Gulleyes through quests and daily catches. Progress in fishing is also tied to one’s standing in the Gulleyes faction, which can be tracked using the FACTIONS command.
Fishing takes place at designated fishing holes, which can be discovered near bodies of water. Players use commands like FISHING DISCERN, CAST, REEL, and LEAD to manage their line, stamina, and tension as they attempt to land each catch. Rods and buckets for storing fish can be purchased from Angler Hagriphim at the end of the Esterport pier. Once your bucket is full, return it to Hob of the Gulleyes, who will compensate you based on your haul.
Every catch is recorded by the Gulleyes’ meticulous tracking system, noting individual achievements, fishing hole performance, and even global records. This opens the door for adventurers to become legends of the deep—possibly the first ever to reel in a rare aquatic prize.
