Originating from the Nazedha Isle in the western seas, the Nazetu were created by the dark power of Chakrasul as agents of corruption and decay, and arrived upon Sapience in the year 111 MA in a failed attempt to invade Ashtan. They are powerful, limy creatures, and possess a proclivity for destruction in all its forms.
Following the failed invasion, two distinct Nazetu ethnicities have been distinguished: the continental Nazetu, and the islander Nazetu. The continental Nazetu largely centralized on the west coast and in Bloodloch, or spread out in the south to become pirates, putting their naval expertise to good use; as a diaspora, they held more rigidly and conservatively to their religious faith, restricting their worship to the goddess Chakrasul - their Tribal distinctions, however, have long been forgotten in favor of race solidarity (or more frequently, lack thereof.)
The islander Nazetu, on the other hand, were induced to take on a second deity, called Lanu Du, and assembled into five distinct Tribes - Urmoc, Masit, Karthek, Adessim, and Urrop. These five Tribes warred amongst themselves until united by Emperor Baelak Shipbreaker, and following the Shipbreaker War they have split into three loose coalitions, with Karthek and Adessim evolving the dual faith of Chakrasul and Lanu Du into the controversial Kelonari Cult, Urmoc and Masit preserving the Nazedha Empire, and Urrop acting as mercenaries to whichever side bids higher.
The continental Nazetu and islander Nazedha speak mutually intelligible dialects of the same Nazetu language, with some differences in grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.
