Reformed in the year 112 of the Midnight Age, the Syssin were refounded by a
group of Shadowsnakes who decided to resume their former identities.  Once
Guardians of the Ankyrean Order, the Syssin now only pledge loyalty to their
guild and defence of the City of Spinesreach.
Much like the Paladins who vow to defend their city, the Syssin will ensure
safety and protection of the City of Spires.  But do not confuse the ends with
the means. The Syssin are equipped to be crafty and wily, and use their skills
of Venoms, Subterfuge and Hypnosis to befuddle and eliminate their enemy.

Syssin history is a long, winding road, which dates back to the times of the Ankyreans. Once indentured bodyguards to this ancient race, they have evolved over the epochs. They have been slaves and test subjects - used to create a superior lycanthrope and the creation of their sister guild, the Atabahi. They have been wayward Shadowsnakes, when their home of Spinesreach was hidden from Sapience due to the Grand Artifice.

It is in a more recent century that they have returned to their home, and taken back up their duty as Severn's Heralds of Artifice, and the Defenders of their home. The life of a Syssin is not an easy thing, but the gifts that come with it are unquestionable. Using their arts of Venoms, Hypnosis and Subterfuge, the Syssin utilize agility, both physically and mentally, to further Severn's will and protect their home.
